All of our attorneys are registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Our patent attorneys, many of whom have worked as patent examiners before joining Jordan and Hamburg, bring both broad experience and specialized technical expertise to our firm.

U.S. and International Patent Application and Prosecution:
We prepare and prosecute patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In addition to U.S. applications, we also handle EU and PCT applications, and can file international applications through our associates in the respective countries.

We assist clients in maintaining and protecting portfolios of trademark assets, including renewal of marks and continuous monitoring of competitors’ activities. Through our network of associated firms we also secure global registrations from which our clients can maximize the value of their trademark assets.

Trademark Availability Search and Opinion: 
Jordan and Hamburg can conduct trademark searches to assist our clients in selecting, adopting, and registering marks. Trademark searches can be adjusted to each client’s cost-benefit needs. Preliminary trademark availability search covers the database records of the United State Patent and Trademark Office. Extensive trademark availability search covers state-registered marks and common law (unregistered) marks as well as federal-registered marks.

Trademark Registration:
We prosecute trademark applications for federal registration. We prepare and file electronic trademark applications. A computerized record-tracking system ensures trademark renewals and other requirements to maintain the registrations.

Trademark Litigation:  Our firm represents clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and federal courts. We also litigate disputes concerning trademark infringement, dilution, and unfair competition.    

Copyrights

Jordan and Hamburg counsels our clients to explore and protect the prospective values of their original works. We assist our clients in securing their rights through copyright registration and licensing. We also represent our clients in copyright disputes, including litigation in federal courts and arbitration proceedings.

There are specific advantages to early registration of copyright. We review and evaluate clients’ original work to help determine the best approach to securing maximum protection.
